Prosperity Housing Project
Design Brief:
This project came to us through competition. The brief required Housing of 8 units each of 100sq m and 75 sq m, to be built in 4 phases.
Design Intervention:
Inspired from the formative plan of Roger Anger, the project is visualized as a
cohesive form with easy connectivity and an interwoven flow in the movement of the built form, landscape and people. A fractal of the energies perceived for the entire city, a combination of response to site and climatic factors and the social and aesthetic harmony, this project embodies the twin concept of social togetherness and crystallised individuality.
To socially connect the people, we combined 2 phases in a cluster and provided acoustic barriers to support harmony in collectivity. We applied the brief to get spaces with minimal circulation within units and in this way could provide study areas for each unit. The possibility of kitchen garden and
organic composting at first floor level is an additional take away.
Our take away:
This project is a fine balance between the brief given and the environment created. We believe that the design of the ‘galaxy plan’ of Auroville holds many secret keys for a harmonious development and that each time we dwell on it leads us to a deeper understanding of creating harmonious and aesthetic spaces of living together.
