Features:
A beautiful well ventilated home with interconnected spaces bringing different forms under the enveloping sloping roof while inviting light at different levels is shaped up by the elements of exposed Brickwork, spiral staircase, Jack arches, Arched openings, use of traditional doors, windows and columns and china mosaic patterns in bathroom.
Design Brief:
Vernacular type of architecture using traditional doors, columns and sloping roof.
Design Intervention:
Resolution of dichotomy between vernacular architecture and contemporary life patterns. A redefinition of ‘modern’ architecture and design appropriation for creating inspiring living spaces.
Our take away:
Working on Cecile cottage was a special experience. The design was a joyful expression of the client’s needs and our aspirations for them. Each stage was full of joy and surprise and the building was in constant dialogue with us about its way of manifesting!
