Features:
A health facility which is based on the principle and ideal of including the elements of nature such as the green, the water and the sky as integral part of healing environment.
Design Brief:
A well-developed design brief was given with detailed requirements. The emphasis was on creating a healing environment while fulfilling the area statement.
Design Intervention:
The form of spiral as a geometry of flexible inclusion of natural elements while
offering multitude possibilities of interconnections was first attempted in this proposal by our team. This concept would fructify in different ways in different projects in times to come.
Our take away:
Three architects from Auroville participated in the competition. Helmut Schmid,
Tony Barter and PATH. All three of us developed a concept each, while collaborating and conferring with each other. The richness of the insights and inputs from Helmut and Tony was evident in the way our concept developed to the final design. The scale of the project with its varied requirements, the attitude of supportive collaboration and the invaluable discussions with Helmut and Tony brought a huge infusion of energy and capacity in the growth and evolving progress at PATH.
